If you believe all you read in the media about the Creuse, it is quite the place to head if you are looking for a bargain home to purchase as a holiday home or to move to France. With a very buoyant and inviting property market, in many respects it is understandably so.  Main cities and towns include Brive, the largest in the Correze, with delightful galleries, cafés and muséeums, with pedestrianised streets that meander through the old part of the town. Gueret, the capital of Creuse with the surrounding farmland that borders the very edge of the city, offers a wealth of culture with a focus on fine art, sculpture, painting and delightful botanical gardens. Tulle, renown for its lace, is the capital of the Correze and has a charming old quarter, overshadowed by the impressive 12th century Cathedral of Notre-Dame.
