French Houses, the only way to buy a French property in the Limousin.

The Limousin is, as you know, made up of three departments; the Correze, the Creuse, and the Haute Vienne. There are pockets of each of these departments that have a significant British population, take for example Bellac in the Haute Vienne. It has an English Barber, British hand holding / consultancy company, British "pub" nearby and the local supermarket has a "British Corner" stocked with provisions that we simply can't live without, including Porridge, Marmite, Branstons Pickle and Jelly!

The French Property Market and The Limousin

Made up of three departments, the Haute-Vienne, Creuse and the Correze and to the west of the Massif Centrale the Limousin takes its name from a Celtic tribe called the Lemouices, which occupied the area at the time of the Gauls. Archeological sites indicate the man first settled in the region from 150,000BC at Chalucet in the Haute Vienne and at Crozant in the Creuse. Remains from later fortifications (from 450BC to the Roman Conquest can be found at Puy du Tour near Argentat (Correze), Puy de Gaudy near Gueret (Creuse) and Villejoubert near Saint-Leonard (Haute Vienne).
