It is only here as a GUIDE.
Built in 1603 and constructed of Bourges granite, this imposing house set in the centre
of a small medieval town is steeped in history.
Once the home of the Comte de la Marche in the 1900's it is now
a listed building which has been beautifully restored.
The house has been completely rewired, it has new central heating, new mains and plumbing and
all work has been carried out by approved artisans.

The exterior hides the secret that lies within.

Step through the main entrance of this wonderful house and enter the Chateau Steps into the entrance hall via double oak doors, which may be operated manually or electronically via the intercom in the lounge on the first floor.

The original tiled floor has been retained + decoration adds to the light and airy feel of the room whilst complimenting the exposed granite around the main door and doorway to the staircase The first glimpse of the magnificent stone staircase can be seen from the hall.

Step up from the hall onto the original stone floor and to your left is the access to the cellars and courtyardDouble oak doors, on your left, from the hall lead into the dining room, one of the few rooms left to be restored.  This room features a high beamed ceiling, original panelling to the walls, oak floor and open fire place A step down from the dining room leads you into an additional room.

The current owners had designated this room to be the new kitchen.  Its most striking feature is the beautifully renovated fireplace and bread oven seen below.  French doors lead onto the courtyard. The room has a beamed ceiling.
Both rooms require renovation, but new radiators have been installed and are connected to the new central heating system. In all, there are 3 flights of stone stairs within the house with a further flight via a door to the attics.

It is at this point, standing at the foot of the first flight that it becomes apparent that this is no ordinary house but, in fact, a chateau.

All the stairs have been expertly cleaned to reveal the true beauty of the Bourges granite.
Each flight is wide & flooded with natural light from the windows on each landing.
New radiators have been installed on each level

The photograph on the right not only highlights the stonework found on each
staircase
but also is designed to show the proportions in comparison.
The archway way leads to the cellars via a door at the foot of the stairs.

The lounge is located off the 1st landing to the left.  The centrepiece of this room is the enormous granite open fireplace. To the left of the fireplace are full height original oak cupboards.  A further cupboard is located on the opposite wall.

The room has a wealth of oak beams and timbers with a herringbone parquet floor. The 2 windows give views over the courtyard with radiators under.  A door off the lounge leads to the kitchen. Fully fitted solid oak units with tiled work surfaces and splash backs, integrated oven and hob, sink and drainer and wood burner cooker.

A door to the balcony overlooking the courtyard.  From the kitchen via 3 steps up a passageway leads to separate toilet with tiled floor and part tiled wails, water heater and plumbing for washing machine.
