Gites
De La Borderie, just 6 miles out of Bourganeuf, which is
run by Brits - Tim and Marian Pearson. A couple can stay
on a bed & breakfast basis for 50€ per night although,
if you are taking a family over you can have a whole cottage
from just 200€ per weekend. The farmhouse, though
easy to find (see maps below), is isolated
in pleasant countryside. Tim takes great pleasure in growing
all his own vegetables whilst Marian is just the greatest cook.
They not only supply breakfast but can also provide dinner
at a very reasonable cost. Well worth trying, if only for the
home made conserves & pickles not to mention her pork with
cream & courgettes which I loved!
Marion also creates really original and interesting vegetarian
meals.

Marian and Tim Pearson welcome you to the beautiful, tranquil
setting of their Gites de la Borderrie Located at the edge of
the Plateau de Millevaches, our tiny hamlet is 700 metres above
sea level. The pure air will refresh and revitalize you. The
countryside around La Borderie is perfect for walking and riding.
There are good equestrian centers catering for all abilities.
The rivers teem with fish, making this an angler’s paradise.
Birdwatchers and lovers of wild unspoiled countryside will not
be disappointed. This part of the Creuse is still undiscovered
by hoards of tourists and driving is still a pleasure, making
trips to historic towns, local markets and places of interest
an enjoyable day out.

Limoges, famous for its porcelain is
only 1 hour away. Bourganeuf, founded in the 12th century
by the Knights Templars, is only 15 minutes drive. Aubusson and
Fellitin, the medieval centres of tapestry weaving are within
easy reach through beautiful countryside.
The
Lac de Vassivière, is a man-made lake of over 1000
hectares (2500 Acres), and is just 10 minutes drive from La
Borderie. The lake caters for all water sports including swimming,
sailing, water-skiing and wind surfing. An island at the centre
of the lake has a sculpture park and modern art gallery. Many
restaurants and cafés line the lakeside and lake cruises
are available in Summer.
RyanAir have cheap daily flights from Stanstead & Liverpool
to Limoges. You can pick up a Hire
Car at Limoges Airport and be with us in just over an hour.

The main house contains a large salon dining room
on the ground floor with open fireplace and dining capacity
for up to 20 persons. The centre section of the building contains
2 Chambre d’Hote rooms all with private facilities. 2 epis on
the Gites De France Classification. The ground floor room also
contains a cheminée, French style open fireplace.

Evening Meals including Wine: 18€
This pretty stone built independent "Fournil" or bread oven
provides accommodation for up to 4 adults in a double bedroom
plus a click-clak with a mezzanine sleeping area for children.
The living area contains a wood burning stove In case the
nights get cold. Shower and WC are all private to the accommodation
and there is a terrace to the rear with garden and barbeque.

The right hand section of the Main House has
been converted into a self Contained Gîte which sleeps
up to 8 people. The ground floor consists of a salon with cheminée
and kitchen and bathroom with shower and bath. There 3 good
size bedrooms on the first floor all with double beds and one
with an additional bunk bed for children. The Gite is equipped
with washing machine and dishwasher.

Low Season 385€
Weekend 200€ - Suplementary nights at 55€
From the Airport: Follow arrows above & signs for Clermont
Ferrand. Don't go through the city.
The Limoges Circular Orbital (N520) can be taken either clockwise
or anti-clockwise.
Limoges (Bellegrade) Airport to Bourganeuf: 61.6 Kms - 38.6 Miles
- 1 hour 15 mins.
From Paris or Brive (A20) take exit 34 marked Clermont Ferrand.
From Calais/Paris with A20: Exit at junction 23 signposted
Bellac & Gueret - Follow Gueret. Some 25 kms
along the N145 take the exit marked Bourganeuf (D912) and follow
until you get to Bourganeuf where you
will get to a roundabout with a fountain at its centre. At this
roundabout turn Left signposted for
Clermont Ferrand. Some 100 yards along the N141 take the D8
on the right and follw map below.
